Dear PIA Members:

Linked below please find video from the August 7th Senate Insurance Committee meeting, which highlights the key factors contributing to the high cost of medical claims in our state and how they compare to other states across the nation.  The videos takes you through each step of the process, from determining and billing costs to how they are charged, litigated, and ultimately paid for by the claimant, patient, or plaintiff.

For those who may not be deeply familiar with the current state of medical claims against insurers, we recommend watching the videos twice to fully appreciate the complexities involved.

By the end, you'll likely gain a clearer understanding of the challenges we face—and realize the urgency of addressing them.

To attract more auto and home insurers to Louisiana, it's crucial that we improve our state’s loss claim ratio for both personal and commercial auto insurance. Several Legislative Committees will be focusing on this issue for the remainder of the year in preparation for the next Legislative Session.
